A house that catches the eye inside and out is the wish of every homeowner, but the time and effort required to maintain its appearance can be daunting. Everlast® advanced composite siding provides a reliable, durable exterior able to withstand the harshest elements, all while being incredibly easy to clean and maintain.
Doing a little spring cleaning around the house? Don’t neglect your home’s exterior. Proactive exterior maintenance isn’t just for aesthetics – it's critical if you want to avoid potential winter damage, prevent costly repairs, and protect the structural integrity of your home.
Follow the simple guide below for useful tips and tricks on how to keep your home’s composite siding looking its best.
Simple Cleaning Tips
Maintenance of composite siding is simple and does not require any special tools, just a common garden hose with spray nozzle and a soft-bristled brush or cloth.
When washing the entire house, start spraying at the base of the wall and then work your way up. When you’ve finished, make sure you rinse back down from top to bottom in order to prevent streaking.
Using warm or hot water is a great way to increase the effectiveness of your spray. Common, readily available household cleaners are also safe to use to eliminate difficult-to-remove dirt and tough stains. Specific stains may require a more tailored cleaning solution. It is highly recommended that you do not use cleaning products containing organic solvents or other aggressive ingredients, as they could affect the surface appearance of the siding and void your warranty.
Products such as bleach, liquid grease remover, strong soaps and detergents, nail polish remover, paint remover, isopropyl alcohol, and furniture polish/cleaners can all damage siding and should not be used.
Remember to trim away vegetation or bushes near the siding to prevent contact, eliminating moisture retention and any potential surface damage. Gutters and downspouts should always direct water away from the home to minimize water exposure
Advanced Cleaning Options
If you have one available, a power or pressure washer can also be an effective tool when cleaning composite siding.
When using a power/pressure washer, check manufacturer guidelines first, and always test the water pressure prior to using it on the target surface. For Everlast siding specifically, make sure that the maximum pressure is set below 1200 PSI, and that you are using either a 40-degree fan nozzle (typically white) or soap nozzle (typically black).
If you are using one of the approved cleaners mentioned above, make sure you use the cleaning nozzle to spray it on. For best results, hold the power/pressure washer nozzle about three or four feet away from the siding surface while spraying and then rinse thoroughly using the 40-degree fan nozzle.
Easy Cleaning Any Time of Year
Everlast advanced composite siding offers an unbeatable combination of beauty and durability. Made from a proprietary blend of inorganic minerals, polymeric resins, and acrylic cap stock and colorants, Everlast siding provides superior fade and weather resistance when compared to fiber cement, engineered or real wood, and vinyl siding.
Everlast siding’s durability and surface technology (100% acrylic cap stock) eliminate the need for regular maintenance and cleaning. It is not susceptible to moisture like wood, engineered wood, and fiber cement. A simple spray-down once a year is all you need to keep your home exterior looking like new.
Real Results
Ease of cleaning is just one benefit of Everlast siding. This next-generation material is specifically designed to maximize the longevity of your home while minimizing the amount of time, money, and effort needed to maintain it.
But don’t just take our word for it – hear it straight from one of our customers.
For Bob Marrow, property manager at The Harbour in Sandusky, Ohio, Everlast siding has been the perfect solution for eliminating costly upkeep for the luxurious lakefront neighborhood.
“By putting this product on our buildings, it alleviates the problem with the maintenance of having to repaint every four or five years,” Marrow said in 2017, five years after the installation. “These boathouses have not even needed to be power washed since the new siding was put on five years ago, which has decreased maintenance budgets. This puts money back into our residents’ pockets to do other things.”
The bottom line: Everlast siding more effectively achieves long-term performance with less maintenance than traditional siding materials. Whether spring cleaning or preparing for winter’s freeze, the minimal upkeep requirements and ease of cleaning of composite siding helps your home maintain beauty for generations.
